Where can I do CrossFit in Torremolinos?

CrossFit in Torremolinos: where to go and how to start without hurting yourself

There are 3 CrossFit and cross-training boxes across Playamar, Torremolinos and Churriana, plus a club in Playamar with a CrossTraining room and coached functional classes. The boxes run on monthly session packs and almost none of them publish prices. Before you choose on the monthly fee, look at one thing: what your first class is like. Do they drop you straight into the workout of the day, or teach you the movements first?

Said plainly: these come first because we work with them. That means we have an interest in it going well for you with them — and that we know how they work from the inside, which we cannot say of anyone else. The full list of the area is in the page.

Everything checked on each centre's own website

Everything here was checked on each centre's own website on 2 September 2026. While verifying, we found that every directory publishes the wrong opening hours for one of the boxes: they say continuous hours, its website says split shifts. We give the full details for the club we work with; for the boxes, we tell you they exist and where to find them.

Who we work with: cross training in Playamar

LidoMare Fitness Club is not a CrossFit box and we don't sell it as one. It's our partner club in Playamar, and its website lists a CrossTraining room and coached Functional Training and Functional Boxing classes. If you're typing 'crossfit' because you want intense group functional training without the Olympic bar, it's the most sensible door in the area.

Let's be clear: LidoMare comes first because it's our partner club. The three boxes below are proper CrossFit, and the list is complete. You choose.

The boxes, by area

Three boxes, checked on their own websites. Name, area and website only: for prices and timetables, ask each box directly.

Los Álamos has no box of its own: the Playamar one is a walk along the seafront promenade. La Carihuela and the town centre don't have an affiliated box either; La Roca, in Torremolinos, is the nearest cross-training option.

CrossFit and cross training are not the same thing

CrossFit is a brand with its own method. An affiliated box programmes the workout of the day — the WOD — mixing Olympic weightlifting, gymnastic movements and high-intensity cardio, and everyone does the same session scaled to their level. It works, it's addictive and it has a community. It also demands technique in movements you don't learn in an afternoon.

Cross training is the generic term: varied functional training in a coached class, usually with less Olympic bar, more machines and more progression. Less epic, easier to start with.

If you're starting from scratch or coming back after months off, the sensible thing is to start with the second — or with basic strength work — and move to the box once your body can take the intensity. That's not caution: it's the order that stops you quitting in week three.

What the physiotherapy team says about forcing ranges of motion

In their in-house training, Antifrágil's physiotherapy team mention CrossFit by name when they explain a mistake they see in clinic: some bodies are not built for certain ranges of motion. A hip can hit a stop in the deep squat not through lack of flexibility but because of the shape of the bone. Forcing that stop over and over doesn't give you more range: it gives you compensation, and the lower back pays for the compensation.

Their words, verbatim: 'It isn't weakness. It's structural strategy.'

Translated to your first class: if a movement asks for a range you don't have, the right answer from the coach is to scale it — less depth, a box, a different variation — not 'you'll get there'. And if something bothers you during the session and you're worse the next day, that exercise isn't for you today. The full rule is on the page 'It hurts when I train: carry on or stop?'.

What to ask before buying a session pack

Four questions. The answers tell you more about a box than the price list.

  • What is my first class like? The right answer has one word: fundamentals. One or several sessions to learn the movements before you join the workout of the day. If they put you into the WOD on day one, the box is prioritising the group over you.
  • How many people per coach? With weightlifting movements, more than twelve people per coach means nobody is watching your technique.
  • What happens if I can't do a movement? There must always be a scaled version. If the answer is 'you'll get there in time', see the section above.
  • How much does it cost, and what about the sessions I don't use? Almost no box publishes prices: they run on packs of 8, 12 or 20 sessions a month, or unlimited. Ask whether unused sessions expire. They almost always do.

When CrossFit is not the place to start

Three cases where the box comes later, not first.

  • If you're coming back after months off: basic strength two days a week first, then intensity.
  • If you have an active pain — something that hurts now or won't go away — get assessed before you sign up. See who to turn to in the area.
  • If you've never done strength work: cross training or the gym teach you the patterns with less rush.

And the days you don't go to the box?

Three WODs a week aren't a week. We build the rest around them: what to do on the other days so the box's intensity doesn't catch up with you. Build my week.

Maybe your next problem

Where to go from here, depending on what's bothering you.

  • If your lower back hurts in the squat or deadlift
  • If you'd rather start with strength work in a gym
  • If you want something more controlled: pilates in the area

Sources and how we check

Data checked on each centre's website on 2 September 2026. The reasoning on ranges and compensation comes from the clinical training of the physiotherapy team at Antifrágil (https://antifragil.net/fisioterapia-torremolinos-playamar/), a centre in Torremolinos we work with. See how we check things.

What people believe, and what is true

Belief: If you can't get into a deep squat, you keep pushing and the range will come with time.

What is true: According to Antifrágil's physiotherapy team, some bodies are not built for certain ranges: a hip can hit bone, not tight muscle. Forcing that stop doesn't give you more range, it gives you compensation, and the lower back pays for it. The right answer in class is to scale the movement, not to force it.

When it is worth getting seen

  • If you have an active pain, something that hurts now or won't go away, get assessed by a physiotherapist or doctor before signing up to a box.
  • If something bothers you during a session and you're worse the next day, drop that exercise and get it looked at rather than pushing through.
  • If a movement forces a range you don't have and your lower back is paying for it, stop forcing it and ask a physiotherapist to look at it.

CrossFit or cross training: is it the same thing?

No. CrossFit is a registered brand with its own method: affiliated boxes programme the workout of the day (WOD) with Olympic weightlifting, gymnastic movements and high-intensity cardio. Cross training is the generic term: varied functional training in a coached class, usually with less Olympic weight and more progression. Almost none of them do. They run on packs of 8, 12 or 20 sessions a month, or unlimited, with the price on request. Ask whether unused sessions expire: they almost always do.

Gym, physio or doctor: who to see in Torremolinos Physiotherapists in Torremolinos and what they charge

Data checked on each centre's own website on 2 September 2026. Where we say a centre does not publish something, that is exactly what we found. Health criteria come from the clinical training of the physiotherapy team at Antifrágil, the Torremolinos centre we work with; the medical step in the area is Dr Alba Solís, rehabilitation physician (Clínica Élite Costa del Sol). This page explains and points you in the right direction; it does not diagnose. The rest of the site is in Spanish.
